Omaha Poker is the 2nd most popular poker variation that you can find online. This game is also known as Omaha High and it’s a poker game which is played by 2-10 players by following some simple rules that can be learned very fast. The concept of this poker game is very simple. Your number one objective will be to have the best 5 cards combination, which is going to be made out of 2 of the 4 pocket cards that you have along with 3 of the 5 community cards that are going to be face up on the poker table.

The Omaha game is relatively similar to a Texas Holdem game. This means that in case you already know how to play a Texas Hold’em game you will find it very easy to play a game of Omaha poker. However there are some differences that you must be aware of.

Here we are going to present you a game of Omaha High, so that you are going to better understand how the Omaha poker game is played over at Everest Poker:

  • The Dealer – The cards are going to be dealt starting from the dealer position. The dealer is going to rotate after each poker hand to the left of the dealer in a clockwise direction around the table. In order to know what player is the dealer at this Omaha Poker game you will have to look for the D button which is next to one player at the table. In case you are the dealer you do not have to worry about anything since the cards are going to be dealt automatically by the computer.
  • Blinds – The blinds are going to be posted by the player that is sitting to the left of the Dealer. The first player next to the Dealer is going to be obliged to post the small blind which is usually ½ of the minimum bet and the next player to the left is going to have to post the big blind, which is the same amount as the minimum bet. The blinds are going to be post so that the pot will have some money in, and this is also going to encourage the other players to start placing some bets. The name of this bet is “blind” because the players that are placing this bet do not see any of the cards before they place the bet.
  • The Deal – The next step in a game of Omaha Poker at Everest Poker is to have 4 pocket cards dealt to each of the players sitting at the table. These cards are going to be visible only to the players that are holding them.
  • Betting – Right after all the players have received the 4 cards, another round of betting is going to start. The betting is going to start from the player that is sitting to the left of the one that placed the Big Blind and it’s going to go clockwise. The players will now have the opportunity to check, fold, raise, re-raise or call. Depending on the bets/raise that is being made, there could be another betting circle. This round is going to end the moment when all the players have called or folded the last bet.
  • The Flop – Here is the part when 3 community cards are going to be placed in the middle of the table, face up. After that another betting round will start.
  • The Turn – The 4th community card is going to be dealt and it’s going to be followed by another betting round.
  • The River – This is when the final community card is going to be dealt in the middle of the virtual poker table, and it’s going to be followed by the final round of betting.
  • The Showdown – The remaining players that are still in the game are going to compare the best hand, which is going to be made out of 2 of the 4 pocket cards and 3 of the community cards. No other combinations are going to be allowed. And the player that holds the highest rank hand is going to win the pot. In case there are 2 players with the same rank, the pot is going to be divided.
  • Next Hand – Right after the pot is distributed, the Dealer button is going to move to the next player at the left in a clockwise direction and another great Omaha Poker Game from Everest Poker will start!
